Rattles

The history of Football crowds and stadiums is fascinating. Central to this was noise-making to raise the atmosphere. Chants, songs and synchronised clapping were joined by noise makers from what was available. Old bird scarers and war time gas attack warning rattles were painted with your teams colours and sometimes adorned with ribbons. LFA has an archive of dozens of rattles and other devices, illustrating their historic use in society over the last 1000 years and their renaissance as Football fan noisemakers.
