World Cup ‘WW1 and Football’ exhibit to open next week in Kansas.

In just a few days time the doors will open on the new exhibition (see below) that will run until October this year.

Looking back

This is a good moment to reflect on the centenary exhibition at the National Football Museum in England in 2014: THE GREATER GAME was one of the best exhibitions in the Urbis building in Manchester.

One of the stand out exhibits was the restored pier game

The World’s Delight “Up to date Football” or Yes we are the nuts! A ‘kick the ball through the hole’ game, dedicated to fallen pro footballers of WW1. This was expertly restored to a fantastic standard having been in quite run down condition and has many interesting stories behind it.

It is remarkable what a prominent role Football took in WW1 in so many ways and how photography captured the moment. See elsewhere on this site.
